ID Project for Plains 7th Graders on 1/25 and 1/26

ID Project for Plains 7th Graders on 1/25 and 1/26

Please consider taking a day to join us for Plains Jr ID Project for 7th graders, or donating chips, water, or cookies for the event. The ID Project is a powerful, high-energy program in which students and adult participants are guided through a series of experiential learning processes. This is essentially our anti-bullying program for the year.  The overall goals of the program are to embrace diversity, increase personal power and self esteem, to shift negative peer pressure to positive peer support and to eliminate the acceptability of bullying, violence, and all forms of oppression. The program is designed to unite students with members of the school and community and to empower them to carry the themes of the program back to the greater school population. Topics focus on Attitude, Respect, Anger Management, Stereotypes, and Authenticity.

We are in need of MANY volunteers for each day of this event and are hopeful to achieve a 1:5 volunteer-to-student ratio.  Our volunteers will be active in leading small group discussions based upon the presenters given topics, and having fun with the kids.  To be a positive facilitator you simply need to bring an open mind and be willing to share your own experiences with students.  The program leaders will meet with all Adult Volunteers prior to the start of the program to discuss program specifics and answer any questions you may have.  Please dress in comfortable, casual clothing and shoes (jeans are very acceptable).  We encourage family participation - ask a grandparent, aunt, uncle, neighbor, close family friend to sign up with you!

Volunteers MUST be able to commit to the full day.  You will need to report to Plains Jr office with your ID by 7:15am.  You will sign in as a volunteer and have your ID run through our RAPTOR security system, be given a name badge, and proceed to the gym.  The program will end at 2pm.

The boys program will be held on Thursday January 25th and the girls program will be held on Friday January 26th. Please feel free to sign up for either day, or both days if you are available.  We are hoping the majority of Thursday's volunteers will be men (to work with the boys) and the majority of Friday's volunteers will be women (to work with the girls), however we will not turn any volunteer away because of this.

To continue the growth and bonding that occurs by the students, we provide a pizza lunch for all of the students and volunteers who attend.  We ask that you help in donating chips, cookies, and bottled water to complete the lunch.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at Plainspto@yahoo.com.  We truly appreciate your help and support to make this a successful, memorable program for our children (and so rewarding for our volunteers)!
